On the Origin of Some Faeces...

And the chance to avert a Wombat invasion of the Sixes?

From Our Own Embedded Correspondent

Wombat hunter Earnest Hummingbee and what is believed to be the ancestral home of all cricketing, wine drinking Wombats in fabled Bullengarook.

Sixes cricketers worldwide (well a few anyway), have long wondered (okay, for at least a couple of minutes), just where the Kingdom of Bullengarook might be, how the Earl of Wombatshire got his title and what if anything is the significance of Niftus Erectus, Figaro, Doc, Dasher, HRH and the rest of the Wombat dynasty.

This species of cricket playing, wine drinking Wombat surfaced some eighteen years ago and has taken to invading peaceful Chiang Mai in ever increasing numbers every year. They have successfully out- manoevred and then absorbed rival sub-species like the Lik Liks and then Schlungers who began as a more distinct cross-breed of Vultures & Centaurs, but pretty soon developed Wombat characteristics. Now it would appear a new sub-species is to invade Chiang Mai - Wombatus Nipponicus (or "Tokyo Wombats" to give them their common name). Just how a usually slow moving, land bound creature might have crossed a continent and an ocean to establish itself in Tokyo is a mystery. But the certainty is there for all to see any evening down the Ginza, where the red wine flows uncommonly. red. (as it were).G'day ! It remains to be seen if this new Japanese sub species fits the pattern.

However, there is a serious concern among the willow bashing, amber fluid loving Chiang Mai Sixes faithful, that a full infestation of Womats and their kin could soon overwhelm the annual cricket fest with their own peculiar brand of cricket, and uncommonly good imported red biddy. The race is on to track down the origins of this impending invasion.

Now, we have received news that a chance encounter with a small golden turd on a street in Chiang Mai has led biologist Earnest I. Hummingbee on a trail across two continents (pick any two from six) to the Kingdom of Bullengarook. There, in a peaceful forest glade, he has discovered a matching turd near what he is convinced is the original Wombat ancestral burrow. "By their faeces shall ye know them", is a common expression among biologists. Hummingbee reckons this is the site of the fabled Bullangarook and home indeed of those original Wombats - the Earl and his gang. Intrepid Wombat hunter Hummingbee has sent us what he claims is photographic proof (seen above) of his discovery - the Wombat ancestral burrow - the origin of the small golden faeces found in Chiang Mai..The mythical home he believes for Wombats and their sub-species who all eventually return to this ancestral glade & burrow to drink uncommonly good red wine and thence to multiply. If there is a chance to prevent the long term invasion and take-over of Chiang Mai Sixes by Wombats of many persuasions it may lie here in far off Bullengarook.
