We have recently been passed the sad news that Vinod Balani, former owner of Shere Shiraz Restaurant, and regular team member of Bangkok Postels, was killed in a road accident on Hang Dong Road, on his venerable scooter. The fatal accident occured the week of February 14, 2005. We understand that the funeral was held the evening of the same day.

While owner of Shere Shiraz, Vinod was an advertising supporter of the Chiang Mai Sixes and provided the vegetarian food for pig picking evenings. He was associated with the Postels team from early in their annual Sixes' participation and had been a regular team member of the Bangkok Postels since 1999, winning Spoon honours with them in 1999 and 2004. As a dad Vinod keenly encouraged his son's participation in the early Sawasdee cricket programme.
