 On
behalf of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, it is with the greatest of
pleasure that I welcome all those taking part in this year's Chiang Mai
Sixes. This 16th year of the tournament marks another milestone for what
is certainly Chiang Mai's longest running annual international sporting
event. It is a tribute to the success of the tournament and surely equally
to the attractions of Chiang Mai, that the Sixes has survived and flourished
regardless of the economic or political state of the world around us. Sporting
friendships surely can and do bring the world together in harmony.
I am pleased too that the TAT Northern Region 1 office has been able to support the Chiang Mai Sixes since the very early days. Your tournament has grown to become a significant tourist event for Chiang Mai both in terms of the visitors and the worldwide 'fame' it brings to our city. I am hopeful we shall be able to continue supporting the Sixes for many more years to come. May I wish all of you, organizers, sponsors, and participants of the Chiang Mai Sixes, the very best of luck with this year's event. I hope you will have a wonderful week of sport and relaxation. And I hope too that we'll be able to welcome you all again next year!
