Message from
the Governor of Chiang Mai

Mr.Pisit Ketphasook It is a great pleasure for ma to welcome all the participants of the 2003 Chiang Mai International Cricket Sixes to Thailand, and especially to our beautiful city. Chiang Mai has long and colorful history which stretched back for more than 700 years. It is the center of art and culture and has many attractive places to visit both of historical and natural beauty. Moreover, the hospitality and generosity of our local people are impressive.

We in Chiang Mai are proud and happy to know that so many of you choose to visit us almost every year. It is a great compliment to both the continuing success of the Sixes tournament, and to your hosts the city and people of Chiang Mai, that even in this year of great tension in the world, you have expressed your faith and confidence in us by returning once again. We promise to do our bast to make this visit as safe and pleasant as always.

This is also the 4th year of the Sixes Sawasdee Cricket Cup for Chiang Mai schoolchildren. It was thanks to the efforts and generosity of Sixes participants that a junior sawasdee cricket program was begun in Chiang Mai schools in 2000. Thanks to your continued support, the program has flourished, more coaches and more schools are getting involved, and wider support and recognition of the program is being achieved. This is a vary positive contribution to the education of our children and potential for a new sport to develop in Thailand.

May I wish you all a wonderful week of sport, good luck on the cricket field, and a memorable holiday in our beautiful city and countryside.

Mr.Pisit Ketphasook
Governor of Chiang Mai
