Message from
the Commander of
the 33 rd Military Circle, RTA.

Major General Thawat Charukalasa We are especially pleased and honoured to welcome all the cricketers, families and friends coming to Chiang Mai this year for the 16th Chiang Mai International Cricket Sixes. In such uncertain times as these in the world, we vary much appreciate the vote of confidence you give us by once again choosing to enjoy your annual sporting event in our city. I am in turn confidant that your trust in us will be fully rewarded in a safe and happy stay here.

The Chiang Mai Sixes remains the longest running international sporting event in northern Thailand. It is odd perhaps that the sport of cricket, once so little known in Thailand, should now have such a strong international association - among cricketers at least - with our city. Now however, I understand that thanks to the efforts and generosity of Sixes's participants, cricket is slowly but surely also becoming a game played by children in Chiang Mai schools. This is a worthy undertaking for the benefit of our children, and we applaud and thank you for this gift. Let us hope it is not long before a local, fully Thai team, is competing for the Chiang Mai Sixes Cup!

May I congratulate the Sixes's organisers, sponsors and advertisers, and our own Chiangmai Gymkhana Club for helping to stage this popular event so successfully each year. And may I also take this opportunity to wish everyone connected with the 16th Chiang Mai Sixes, and 4h Sixes Sawasdee Cricket Cup, a wonderful sporting week on the field of play, and a terrific holiday all round!

Major General Thawat Charukalasa
Commanding General 33 rd Military Circle
