It's
Sixes's time again in Chiang Mai! Tournament week seems to have become
almost as much a part of our "hot season" as Songkran! Certainly
at Gymkhana the Sixes is so well established that even the most avid
of our golfing members now accepts without much more than a murmur, that
the 7th, 8th and 9th holes will be shut for the week. As Thailand's oldest
sporting club, Gymhkana is very proud to be able to play host for Chiang
Mai's longest running international sporting competition, the Sixes .
May I say on behalf of the Club, it is a pleasure to welcome so many
of you who are returning as our regular guests. It is a wonderful tribute
to Chiang Mai and the Sixes, that you come back to visit us so often.
For those here for the first time, please make yourselves right at home,
we sincerely hope you will enjoy it so much that you too will become regulars.
I know Maurice and his fellow committee members work hard to try and make
each tournament just a little better than the last one and I understand
this year's 15th Sixes will also be the biggest one yet. Getting better
and bigger with age is surely a winning formula ! And now the Sixes has
given birth (as it were) to what we hope is the future of cricket in Thailand
the Sawasdee Cricket program in our local schools. What a great present
for our children , and all thanks to participants in the Chiang Mai Sixes.
Whether you win or lose on the cricket field, I hope you all have a splendid
week in Chiang Mai and at the Gymkhana Club.
Mr. Surapong Sukannasilp
Chairman, Chiengmai Gymkhana Club
