| The Chiang Mai Sixes has agreed to be 'associated' with the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour (ACST), which as many of you will know is chaired
by long time Sixes activist and Chiang Mai supporter Mike 'Cat' Maher. The Cat was until last year a joint World Teams Coordinator
for Chiang Mai Sixes, together with Rick Davis. Viking of course has continued in that leading role for our Chiang Mai event, (now
assisted by Ian Liddell & Charlie Chelliah ).Cat also continues to lead the popular Postels' team participation in and support
of our Chiang Mai tournament
Association with ACST does not change the independent status of Chiang Mai Sixes in terms of management and team participation. It
is hoped there can be mutual benefit for both organisations in helping to promote each other. The agreement between the two states:
- Chiang Mai Sixes (CMS) authorizes ACST to promote and include details of the Chiang Mai Sixes on the ACST website for the purpose
of attracting teams to the event.
- CMS also authorizes ACST to include, if they wish, a Chiang Mai page on the ACST website : www.cricketsixes.com with a link to
the CMS site.
- ACST will forward directly to Rick Davis and Maurice Bromley any interest shown by teams for the Chiang Mai Sixes. Final decision
whether or not to accept these recommended teams will be up to CMS.
- ACST will not become involved in any aspects of the running of the Chiang Mai Sixes.
The ACST under Cat's leadership has brought together a number of smaller or newer Sixes tournaments in Asia-Pacific, for mutual development
help under the ACST umbrella. They can perhaps also benefit from the greater experience and wider audience reached by the Chiang Mai
Sixes -- now entering its 17th successful year. And Chiang Mai is pleased to be able to be of help. The tournaments under the ACST umbrella
include : new Phuket Sixes, Shanghai Sixes, Hong Kong Festival, NSW (Waratah) Sixes, Jakarta, and Bali Sixes. To find out more about
ACST you'll find a permanent link to their website on our new 'Links' page.
