THANKS to all who tried to help bring the Afghanistan Cricket Federation
team to the Chiang Mai Sixes.
I know everybody tried hard including the Afghans themselves, but the
match in Kabul, Rick's radio interview, interest from MSNBC, the Bangkok
Post press reports, and the contacts with so many companies and embassies
failed to help us achieve our goal. It is very sad because I believe what
we were trying to do was the right thing, and could have really helped
highlight to sports lovers around the world how much help the young, and
not so young, sports men and women need to rebuild that country's sporting
facilities. "Recreation" is noted in UNICEF's Convention of
the Rights of the Child as the right of all children. From the hardships
and ravages of war suffered by so many in Afghanistan, it would have been
wonderful if we could have helped them now. Thanks for your efforts.
