Paul Jones or Hagar the Horrible

Hagar returns for his annual trip to check out the Thai Health Service!! After the last couple of years he’ll be very happy to last a full week. His hairy face is easy to spot and as chief umpire he will willingly accepts cold beers on behalf of his fellow blind and deaf brethren.

Herbie Whitlock or George Formby

George is looking forward to his annual trip, hopefully he’ll remember to buy Millie a birthday present this year. All his brownie points have been cashed in and he needs to build them up again for next year. Will be gracing the Red Lion and other fine hostelries of Chiang Mai as usual

Barry Drake or Bazza

Another veteran, Bazza will be taking his chances with the Honda 50 riders of Chiang Mai as he zooms along the sois. Will be equally quick dispensing summary justice to erring cricketers. Bazza will also be very happy as the Vulcan (Cardiff’s finest pub) has had a stay of execution from the evil grasp of the developers!!

Jim Middleton or the Equaliser

Jim will have the family in tow this year but I doubt that will stop him drinking G & T’s as if they are going out of fashion. Well known for his cheerful sunny disposition he will be full of smiles as he points batsmen the way off the field.

Gavin Shaw or the Mexican

Has been acclimatising in Bangkok for some months, at least I think he said that was what he was doing ! Dislocated his shoulder practising giving batsmen out on Sukhumvit Road, Batsmen (and Bowlers) beware.

Si Kasturiratne or Serendipity

Well known professional Sri Lankan golfer, this giant of a man will be making sure his games last the minimum amount of time so he can disappear once more up the fairways. Si will be a true gentleman as always.

Jim Ford or Crocodile Dundee

In from the Aussie far north, so he probably thinks Chiang Mai can get rather chilly. Jim’s umpiring is of the minimalist variety, he loves reviewing his decisions in the relaxing atmosphere of Foxy Ladies with a nice cold beer in hand.

Trevor Warburton or Air Force One

Trevor is returning once more with his personal masseuse to ensure he remains in the peak of fitness for this gruelling week! Life is tough.

Don Heapy or the Tasmanian Devil

Don is new to Chiang Mai but brings with him a wealth of experience from the island state of Tasmania. I’m sure he’ll enjoy his stay and will soon get to grips with the way the Umpires operate here.....give ‘em bugger all !!

Richard Bartholemew or Bart

Local boy makes good!! Richard is from that ancient Chang Mai family the Bartholemews . He will be the Umpires chief guide and procurer of local produce. Richard is sure to be a valuable addition to our squad and will also act as our local spy!

Tony Gough or Goughie

Now retired from umpiring duties Goughie could not leave us alone and has returned from darkest Phuket to assume new duties as Tournament Match Referee , and as an ex top umpire guess whose side he’s on !!! He will now be able to spend the entire week looking like the beach bum he is. As usual Goughie will be kept in check by my cariad Lady Norma . (cariad is welsh...look it up)
