2009 Team Photo
Steve Harply (Harpo)
Opening bowler and explosive batsman. Good tour in 2009 Sixes. Disappeared at intervals to satisfy his lust - for triple hamburgers at McDonalds. Hopes he can emulate his form of last two years on and off the field - especially apres cricket.
Graham Crawford (Shirley)
Played in Surrey Championship for Cobham Avorians. Holds a number of records. Asset to Vagrants in 2009 with bat and ball and proved footwear not essential wearing “crocs” in one game. Hopes no reoccurrence of back problem will preclude his missing games or absence from golf course.
Steve Naylor (Nails)
Good all rounder. Plays for Berkshire (Minor Counties) and captained Avorians 2009. Likes to open batting if Captain can be persuaded. Lacked early form 2009 but came good despite “derogatory remarks” from Antipodean team mates. Great things expected 2010 Sixes.
Bjorn Mardt (Tour Virgin)
New to Surrey Vagrants this year. Captains Berkshire and a very useful all rounder and should be a very capable substitute for the missing Aussie contingent (Higgsy & Evey will be missed).
Jerry Hinds (Caveman)
Welcome return after a years absence and rendered much assistance in organising the Vagrants Team given the absence of the Aussie regulars. Should add guile and weight to the team. Clearly the engagement of a personal trainer was a waste of money. Good record with the bat in Vagrants previous successes.
Norman Strickland (Legend)
Has the distinction of being a legend in his own lifetime. Captained the Vagrants sister team The Avos in the 2008 final. Good number 6 bat and teasing left arm bowler. One would like to say he leads by example but is just as well that is not so!
Clive Huggins (Silver Fox)
Seasoned tourist with 94 overseas cricket tours. Now at an age where those that don’t know suggest he become a couch potato. Plays in Surrey Championship and Surrey Over 60’s. Represented Vagrants in several Finals and still has hero as Peter Pan - could he find Wendy in Chiang Mai.
