Steve Herman

Is a Dutch and English given name. Its original meaning was "army man" (Arman) and derives from the Germanic elements "heri" meaning "army" combined with "man" meaning "man" (compare archaic Dutch "heer", meaning "army" and "man"). It is cognate with German "Hermann".

Moohan (Rocket) Sid

On 16 February 1960 a special ministerial train dubbed the Moohan Rocket made a trip from Wellington to Auckland on the North Island Main Trunk, taking 11 hours and 45 minutes, or 2½ hours less than the steam-hauled Night Limited. As the train of a brake van, three first-class cars and a Ministerial car at the rear only weighed 147 tons, and was hauled by two Dg locomotives, the time was somewhat disappointing. The return trip two days later behind a single Da locomotive was slightly quicker at 11 hours and 34 minutes, though the superior Da could not then run through the tunnels north of Wellington and the two Dgs took over at Palmerston North. The train reflected Moohan’s idea of a fast and comfortable intercity service later seen in the Silver Star and Silver Fern.

He served as the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Fiji and to the Republic of Nauru, to the Kingdom of Tonga and to Tuvalu from 1999-2001. He was the US Ambassador during the 2000 Fijian coup d'état. Siddique is believed to be the second American-Muslim to be appointed as an ambassador from the United States; the first was Robert Dickson Crane, appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1981 as U.S. ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.

(1958) and Henri in Woman Obsessed, both with Susan Hayward, and as Colonel Tall in the 1964 police picture, The Thin Red Line, with Jack Warden.

Cooksley Simon

(born April 11, 1971 in Auckland, New Zealand) is a former professional rugby union player and All Black lock.
Cooksley holds the distinction of being the tallest All Black ever at an imposing 2.05 meters and 125 kg. He had a long All Black career, spanning from 1992 until 2001. Despite this, Cooksley only played in 23 All Black matches, and only 11 All Black tests. Robin Brooke and Ian Jones were often the favoured locking pair during his time. In 1995, Cooksley gained another distinction when he was a replacement on the end of year tour of France; in his one appearance on tour he became the first All Black to be shown a yellow card, with Irish referee Gordon Black apparently unaware that the red and yellow card system did not then apply to international rugby. A touch of Maori blood saw him regularly play for New Zealand Maori from 1992 onwards.

These are not the mighty Malakas i am afraid, just famous namesakes.

We are stuck with the usual suspects Lemon, Ben, Max, C-Head, Herpes, Dom, 2 x Simon & Richie. We may have Bala from K.L, we will be supported by Sid, Dag, Terry & the girls in the Hammocks. No doubt the boys will keep Ducklady as busy as ever.

We will miss Captain Duck & Oh, Glasses, Mitch & Sue, Jimmy & Jenny (hope all goes well with the new addition to the family), who should all be back next year.... and finally wee Andy who sadly won't be with us again but will always be with us in spirit, r.i.p. mate.
