Yarrambat

Yarrambat, back for a fifth consecutive year have returned with few changes to the line up that so bitterly under performed last year. Have added the legendary “Chops” to the playing line up to try and add some professionalism to the squad. The boys, despite their indifferent on field performances, have maintained their sponsorship deals with a number of local bars whom see the team as good value being assured that the sponsorship money will go back over the bar on the first night of the tour! Thanks to Orn for the generous support of the White Lotus Bar & Restaurant. We really look forward to running amok in this establishment once again.

Daniel "Fabio" Shaw. 9th Tour: Captain. After a very disappointing display last year he has been in the nets (read “drinking establishments”) working on his technique to make sure he fires for the team this year. Big hitter and quick bowler but his form will rest on whether he will continue to be lured into the bright or sometimes murky bars lined along the streets of Chiang Mai each night. Known to have little will power, expect Fabio to under perform once again!

Gavin "Shawry" Shaw. 10th Tour: Officially he has retired from the prestigious Yarrambat playing line up to concentrate on his umpiring. Along with that, he has been making sure all Yarrambat players have been involved in rigorous physical and mental training. He’ll be conducting fitness (and STD) tests before each game this year!

Troy "Harvs" Harvey. 12th Tour: The creator of the gay dab is back for another tour surprising all to have managed to stay with the same team for more than 2 years! (Renowned for his lack of commitment to any group in the past!). Impressed everyone last year with his big hitting, including himself. Is a regular to Thailand, enjoys the climate and……..  Willing to work for 10,000 baht per month if anyone has a job going here.

Nathan "Shanks" Lamb. 1st tour to Chiang Mai as a player. Observed the tournament last year from the sidelines and decided he couldn’t do any worse on the field than his dad Rusty. Hoping to do even better off the field! Great batsman and unlike his father can actually hit the pitch with most balls. Shanks continues the Yarrambat youth policy which is aimed at getting the average age of the team under 30!

Andrew "Taxi Driver/Reverend" Comans. 4th Tour: The rev has returned looking forward to helping out those in need. After his reading from The Good Book of Michael last year, has decided to expand his repertoire and is prepared with many sage readings for the group this year. Has been known to sing a few of his psalms to his flock – if this happens, it is recommended that you excuse yourself politely and make a quick exit for the door. Will no doubt be seen wielding the willow as if it were a tooth pick – a prolific run scorer and a real terror with the new ball!

Russell "Bookend" Lamb. 4th tour to Chiang Mai and still known as "Mrs Taxi Driver", although fast trying to earn the monika “Captain Cranky” for his fine people management skills back at the bat cave. Has had a great season playing E grade where he forms the nucleus of a team with big potential (and little ability). Nowadays is regularly out scored in batting performances by both his son and daughter whom play in the same team. Expect Russ to once again stand up close behind the stumps and use his body to block balls – this is much better than him trying to use the keeping gloves which never really stop anything in Russ’s hands! Has bought the family back to Chiang Mai again this year to help keep his off field reputation in tact.

Michael "Chief Clancy Wiggum" Burns. 12th tour to Chiang Mai and 5th year as Team Manager and special on field weapon for the Bats! Was seen to be fully absorbed in the Reverend’s reading on “Chicken” last year and looking forward to more good advice to help his fitness campaign. A prolific run scorer and like a whippet between the wickets, it is rumoured that he is the new protégé of the Chef! Both have very similar physiques and batting styles. You'll once again hear the dulcet tones of Wiggums on the commentary team throughout the week when he is not on the field, managing the Yarrambatians, acting as fines master for our group, serving behind the bar or eating his chicken drumsticks!

Simon "In Da House -Simo" Bray. 4th Tour: Deputy Deputy Vice 12th in line Captain: Has been officially let loose after being allowed to travel to Thailand on his own- well with the rest of the group anyway. After a solid season back home – bowling pies to the local deaf and blind institute - he’s looking forward to proving himself on and off the field. It’s rumoured he plans to work in tandem with the skipper during the night time activities. Is that a menagerie?

Rob "Chops" Bernard. 4th tour to Chiang Mai and the first as a player for the Yarrambat team after many years of carrying the drinks! A big boost to team confidence to have Rob officially in the squad. An absolute gun with his new bat (or so he tells us) and is able to cleverly disguise his mystery ball much to the bewilderment of batsmen (the mystery ball is the one that stays on the pitch). Has had a big year playing at sixes tournaments all over the globe and as such has become somewhat of an expert at the tactical strategies employed in this game. Will be a key source of inspiration for the team, a genuine nice guy and will be a great source of contribution at the team fine sessions.

Kim and Amy Shaw. 9th trip to Chiang Mai for the pair who will only arrive mid week allowing the boys to concentrate on their cricket and socialising for the first half of the tournament. Kim is once again looking forward to her favourite daiquiri’s whilst Amy hopes she is front runner in the boat race once again – she’s been practising for it all year!

Michael "Mad-Dog" Bray. 4th tour to Chiang Mai if work commitments allow him to get here. Chief statistician for the Group and the Team's wine expert. Will miss his mate Dave who has sadly been finally certified and locked up indefinitely. Expect to find Michael at the ground each day, a bottle of red or Bloody Mary in hand and looking to slag in 2009.

Steve "The Joker" Walker. 4th tour to Chiang Mai sixes following a successful campaign in 2008 that earned him the nickname The Joker – ask him why. Commenced a budding acting career in Chiang Mai last year starring in the feature film “Buzz” which was released shortly after the tours end and was a visual extravaganza that show cased some very interesting props.

Julie and Kirsty Lamb. 2nd tour to Chiang Mai. Back once again to help keep Russell’s health in check! Kirsty has inherited none of her father’s cricketing skills which allowed her make the Victorian under 15 squad this year. They are looking forward to the shopping and sight seeing in Chiang Mai
