2008 Team Photo
Ray ‘Lemon’ Matti. Has featured for the cbb’s on several tours now ready to finally get amongst the runs at chiang mai, keeping improving every year but as anyone who knows him will tell you he always has a bent arm [you tried drinking with a straight arm?] so no bowling quite yet.
Steve ‘Duck’ Fowler. Duck has by all accounts finally retired. The whites have been returned to Billy Smart's circus. He is to be installed as head selector for the Malakas, most of whom will need new heads by monday night!! Oh, is happy too much to be back somewhere slightly warmer than the -8 degrees attained regularly this year in sunny Gylberdyke.
Marty ’C-Head’ Burns. The Malakas have been assured that their star player will not miss two tournies in a row so we have to assume that he will be here this time. He has taken time out to give some coaching to T.C. at the Newcastle Xixes where he made a stunning debut with the CBB’s.
Max ‘Animal’ Osman. Another CBB debutant at this years Newcastle Sixes, Max has a lot to do this year to improve upon his fantastic effort last year. Having never had a duck for the Malakas, Max managed two at last years comp. Will be doing all he can to get the hat trick this year.
Simon Filbrook. This former Silver State legend will be making his second tour with the Malakas, That is why him and Deb will no doubt be using a different hotel to the rest of the team. By the way, if anyone has contact with Bala we have still not received that money you promised us last year if we gave Si a game!!
Richard Wybrow. Hopefully Richard will be with us again after missing out last year, This die hard Chelsea fan has not had too much to be happy about so far this season, but he is ante post favourite to get a duck to go with the goose down at the bridge.
Ben ‘Ctd’ Antes. No doubt nobody knows where Ben is, I am sure he will turn up here, it has to be better than being home in Rotterdam watching Feyenord!!
Henryk ‘ My Middle Name Is Cheese Factory’ Van Katwyck. Another doubtful starter but always worth a mention and a thank you for his continued Pas OP sponsorship even though he has sold the business.
Simon ‘Simple’Cooksley. Second tour for big Si, had a great first tour and will hopefully not miss his old mucker Dom the Crane too much as we are sure to need his reliable bowling.
Jimmy ‘Malaka’ Turberfield. Jimmy has been made captain of his village cricket team and is mad keen to be back after missing last years tour. We suspect he was only made captain as he owns a cricket and sports goods on line business and he can get cheap gear!! If anybody needs sports equipment especially cricket gear check out his website www.uksportswarehouse.com great selection & prices.
Sid ‘Marathon Man’ Moohan. Has been punishing the bookies with his first goal scorers so if you need a national winner he’s your man. Not sure if he got an entry to this years marathon but not really important as he plans to go to Cambodia after the cricket and with his sense of direction it should be at least two years before he is seen again.
Dag, Kenny & Klaes ‘3 stooges’ the Lou Reeds will all hopefully be back to swell the bar takings.
