Tournament Format


To avoid delays in a packed schedule, all matches (except finals) are played in pairs. So, the first innings (Batting) of Match A is followed by the first innings (Batting) of Match B. Then the 2nd innings of Match A is played, followed by the 2nd for Match B. Next, matches C and D start their play, and so on.

2008 Tournament

28 teams in main competition, 8 teams in Spoon

MAIN TOURNAMENT (CUP, SHIELD, BOWL , PLATE)

Round 1 7 groups of 4 teams, Round Robin
   
Round 2

CUP DIVISION

7 group winners  + 2 best* runners-up
PLAY: 3 groups of 3, Round Robin

BROMLEY SHIELD

5 remaining runners-up + 4 best* 3rd placed teams
PLAY: 3 groups of 3, Round Robin

SIXES BOWL

3 remaining 3rd placed teams + 3 best* 4th placed teams
PLAY: 2 groups of 3, Round Robin

JOE CARPENTER PLATE

4 remaining 4th placed teams
PLAY: 1 group of 4, Round Robin

*Best = according to points and then run rate off the bat. Slight amendments may be made to avoid a team playing another team from the same Round 1 group, where possible.

   
Round 3:      

Semi-finals in Cup, Shield, and Bowl competitions:
3 group winners + best runner-up in Cup and Shield,
winners and runners-up in Bowl

   
Round  4:     
                       

Finals in all 4 competitions:
winners of semi finals
2 top laced teams in Plate group

SPOON COMPETITION

Round 1 2 groups of 4 teams, Round Robin
   
Round 2

Top two teams in each group then play bottom two teams in other group. All matches contribute to final 8-team table.

   
Round 3:      

Top 2 teams play in final.
