MOONSHINE WARATHAIS

2007 Team

11th Tour -2008
Proudly Sponsored by
MOONSHINE JOINT & JUNGLE JIM’S - Soi Cowboy Bangkok

Trevor Chappell - “TC”

Player No. 27 – Tour No.7. As the Doobie Brothers once sang “What a fool believes”, Trevor has once again fallen for the three card trick by accepting to lead this team on another foray in the hectic world of sixes. TC is the sanity break that this team needs to perform at its optimum level. In other words we would be a sleep deprived, alcohol filled rabble without his steadying guidance. Hang on !!??

He insists that all team members be fit and raring to go at all times, a category that not too many of the current squad actually fit anyway. Oh well Trev, there’s always next year.

Warren Pugh – “WOKKA”

Player No. 30 - Tour No.9. One of the above mentioned sleep deprived, alcohol filled rabble. Having commenced his Chiang Mai sixes experience as a team “prostitute”, hawking his wares to any squad that needed him, Warren has finally found a home with the Moonshine Warathais. Warren will be his happy self throughout the week, so please say hello to him as you pass our tent.

Steve Christie - “CRUNCH”

Player No. 63 – Tour No.11. Experienced campaigner who makes his 11th trip to Chiang Mai.  You would think he would have learnt by now.  Age shall not weary them, nor do the years condemn. It’s obvious that this statement does not refer to Crunch. Following eleven grueling tournaments dating back to 1998, Steve is returning with weather beaten face and calloused hands for another tilt at Cup glory. He claims his callouses have come from his many overs of offspin in recent years, but those who know him well know otherwise. Is the envy of all teammates now, as he sent out for Thai takeaway at Christmas – and had one flown in from BANGKOK!

Ian Liddell - “REDS”

Player No.8 – Tour No.11. Another Chiang Mai veteran who will be seen at all the wrong places late into the night. You will notice on arrival at BANGKOK the reverence with which Ian is held, as for the last three years his input into the Thai GDP is nothing short of amazing. Key political figures at the United Nations are now in discussion regarding further sixes tournaments, using Ian as its main weapon in the fight against world famine and poverty. There is no truth to the rumour that a multi – lane carriageway is being constructed from Chiang Mai to Phuket that will carry his name.

Robbie New – “CHEW”

Player No.42 – Tour No.2. Rob is making his 2nd tour of duty to the Chiang Mai Sixes. Was the standout performer for the Maythais last year and has been drafted into the Warathais because of those performances, and we are short of a player. Has found the Thailand experience to his liking and really enjoys all aspects of this great country. I can see him touring for many years to come.

Mark Wood – “WOODSY”

Player No. 40 - Tour No.3. Team wicketkeeper and all round likable rogue.  Another yokel from the Aussie bush whose idea of a great game of cricket is drinking a carton of beer before the tea break.  Woodsy has taken to Thailand like a fish to water. A solid player whose cricketing ability should not be taken lightly.
