TARANAKI TAVERNERS

2007 Team

Shane ‘the vet' Ryan

Tour number 8 or 9 but is still trying to work out the correct formula to win a game. Born Australia, lives Singapore. God knows how we let him play for a Kiwi team. Body unlikely to stand up to 7 days of cricket but his social experience will be an asset.

Damian ‘the dentist' Ryan

Tour number 2 and is on a mission to out drink his brother. Yet to win a game in Chiangmai but enjoyed himself so much last year that he can't remember a thing so just had to come back to see what the fuss is about.

Craig ‘Jenx' Jenkins

Tour number 2 and also is yet to win a game in Chiangmai. Along with the Ryan brothers is determined to put that right this year.

Simon ‘Pom Kerrison

Has been recommended by ex Taverner ‘Peter Tauro' which is no recommendation at all. Has played local county cricket some years ago and is still playing in the local Norfolk League. Sounds far to qualified for the Taverners.

Chris ‘Pom' Alger

Also recommended by Tauro. At least he is finally making a contribution to the Taverners be it from a distance. Chris is still playing Norfolk League cricket and has been a trophy winning bowler over the years. Much will be expected of our ‘English boys'.

Ian ‘Stretch' Snook

Hurray a Kiwi!! Ian in years passed played ‘first class' cricket for Central Districts over some 14 year period. Had real talents as a captain (but still not good enough to captain the Taverners) and will be long remembered ‘hooking and cutting' Bob Willis to all parts. Has coached rugby all round the world but has now come home to work with the Taranaki Rugby Union. A Chiangmai virgin but not for long!!

Gary ‘Grobbo' Robertson

The veteran ‘in more ways than one' of the Chiangmai Sixes having played in the very first tournament and many since. A team mate of Ian Snook's at Central Districts in his ‘hey day'. His competitive playing days are long gone but is looking forward to catching up with old friends and team mates.

 Ali ‘Peg Leg' Jordan

Team manager this year due to a recently fitted ‘prosthesis'. Has played at Chiangmai on 4 other occasions. Is famous as a ‘night owl' who can operate on 3 hours sleep a night.

Rod ‘Pastie' Priest

Team Treasurer. Has played at Chiangmai on 4 other occasions but was decided that his financial skills were of a great asset this year. The only person to spend a week in Thailand and arrive home with more money than he left home with.
