Darrell Mepham - “MONSTER”
Player No. 72 - Tour No.9. The lovable Happy Happy Monster. He enjoyed playing so much last year that he is pulling on the boots once again to be in the spoon team. Don’t forget to tell your body that you are playing. Since winning a role as the stunt double in Brokeback Mountain, Darrell has decided that a full career seachange in not too far off. Is now taking on many roles as to not be stereotyped as a gay cowboy, even spending time working on scripts of comedy and love stories. Watch for him this summer in the Disney classic remake of CINDERELLA, where he plays both ugly stepsisters.
Stan Spink - “HUMPTY”
Player No. 22 - Tour No.8. The more things change, the more things stay the same. Stan has had an unhappy history of tours – firstly, winning the (un) prestigious T**D OF THE TOURNAMENT on only his second trip, and last year collecting the Malaka’s player of the match award in the Spoon final by bowling their side to victory whilst being a member of the previously undefeated Maythais. Has now promised to focus more on his batting this year. After many hours of dedicated practice, he has claimed that he will arrive with a full array of shots. – He says he will be a strong HOOKER, we all know he’ll be a better PULLER.
James Reynolds - “SPEED”
Player No. 34 – Tour No.5 SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED.
The boy from Vacy with the nickname based on the drug – not the physical action. Look at him when you speak to him and talk slow – real slow. A integral member of the Maythais who will need to show his very best cricketing skills to get the team to perform as well as they did last year.
Peter Thompson – “THOMMO”
Player No. 9 – Tour No.4.
Thommo returns for his fourth tour, quite surprising as the only photo Thai immigration have of him is only the top of his head. At some point on this trip this highly tuned athlete will fall into the same trance that has befallen stronger men before him, and end up in a drunken stupor that will last for months (I’m sorry – that’s how he will leave Australia). There is one question that still needs to be answered though – have you ever seen Thommo and Master Yoda in the same room at the same time?
Keith Roddom – “CHEF”
Player No. 38 – - Tour No.3.
There is no denying Chef’s culinary expertise. At some point this year, he will arrive at the kitchen of an unsuspecting restaurant, and Gordon Ramsey like will weave his magic and feed an entire team with loaves and fishes (and probably a couple of dozen beers). Is currently in the midst of developing the recipe and finalising the ingredients for the team dinner at this year’s tournament – the ultimate Thai spit roast!
David Barrett – “SMASH”
Player No.37 – Tour No.2.
Smash is our resident RAAF recruit who missed last year while deployed in England. Will make up for missed opportunities and should be a star signing for the Maythais. Will need to have broad shoulders to carry the burden of responsibility placed on him to carry this side.
John Griffiths – “RALPH”
Player No.44 – Tour Rookie.
Only virgin on this years tour so will be learning a lot about Thailand and the cricket sixes traditions. Ralph’s cricketing ability is unknown, even to himself, so it should be a fun trip for this rookie. Will be definitely led astray by other members of the group.
