And so we move on; from the 20th to the 21st Tourney, each one a millstone.  The butterflies are still fluttering but a year older.

Name: LARGE SKIPPER
Classification: Bob Phillips (Hesperiidae Enormus).
Natural Habitat: Rugby Clubs.
Migratory pattern: Wanders aimlessly until accidentally lighting on a bar stool.
Notes: Goes from strength to strength.  Last seen mugging a White Lady in Dubai.

Name: SMALL HEATH
Classification: Barrie Radburn (Satyridae Brummae).
Natural Habitat: This species will happily live anywhere where it can sleep during the day.
Migratory pattern: Weaves a drunken path wherever it goes.
Notes: There are serious concerns that this species will never be seen in daylight again.

Name: PEACOCK
Classification: Kevin Lovegrove (Nymphalidae Goonera).
Natural Habitat: Settled into new North London nest.
Migratory pattern: Blind; the French Red Admiral leads this species by the wing.
Notes: Eccentric colouring leaves this butterfly susceptible to more belligerent species.

Name: FLUFFY TIT
Classification: Steve Turner (Peridae Vaticani)
Natural Habitat: Confessionals.
Migratory pattern: This antenna-less species cannot find its way anywhere without assistance.
Notes: The wandering is more erratic.  Do butterflies suffer from Alzheimers?.

Name: SWALLOWTAIL
Classification: Paddy Bateson (Papilionidae Amopommus).
Natural Habitat: No fixed abode.
Migratory pattern: Settled into a more regular desert to Chiang Mai and back pattern.
Notes: The apple blossom is still paramount.

Name: BATWING
Classification: Sanjay Rathod (Atrophaneura Sponsusbannus).
Natural Habitat: Indian native, introduced to South West Asia.
Migratory pattern: Flies from willow grove to willow grove.
Notes: Gregarious; enjoys mixing with the females of other species.

Name: MARBLED WHITE
Classification: Mano Babiolakis (Satyridae Bubblus).
Natural Habitat: Greek origin, but has recently been introduced to Africa.
Migratory pattern: No set pattern but will fly anywhere without its mate.
Notes: Particularly loved by collectors – notably the Earl of Elgin.

Name: TIGER MOTH
Classification: Bob Hope (Nymphalidae Irrasciblus).
Natural Habitat: On the Road.
Migratory pattern: Singapore, Zanzibar, Morocco, Rio, Bali, Hong Kong.
Notes: This species is apt to fly off without warning.

Name: MAP First (spring) generation individual
Classification: Martin Saunders (Nymphalidae Absenfrendus).
Natural Habitat: Very Black Country.
Migratory pattern: Known to visit mountain tops for some inexplicable reason.
Notes: Diets on prawns and female swans.  Despite its name the species is renowned for getting lost and is once again  absent this season.
