SILVER STATE CRICKET CLUB

BALA - Considers himself to be a seasoned Chiang Mai veteran and is a regular fixture at the bar in “Sugar Shack”. Rumour has it that if he did not bring his wife and kids this year, he would be applying for a tut-tut licence and taking tour groups on day tours around the city. A character of sorts, he is a RHB and is like the road runner between wickets (6 overs is probably the most he can and is pretty handy with his “donkey-droppers”.
SIMON FILBROOK - Simon is resident in Thailand but he won’t tell you where. I think the last time he told his mates, he had to get an order for vacant possession and a restraining order from the local Magistrate to get rid of them. A diamond of a bloke he helps out SSCC annually on their pilgrimage to Chiang Mai. A RHB and a hard striker of the ball. RHF and will have most batsmen sweating in their box.
TERRY - Terry is a coach under SSCC’s junior development program in Kuala Lumpur. He is fast becoming a regular to Chiang Mai and is rumoured to make the odd trip up there off season. Loves his beer and has more stamina in the pub than on the ground. RHB and picks the gaps well (most batsmen do when there are only 4 in the outfield). RH Swing bowler who can trap you around your legs.
A RUEBEN - 2007 is Rueben’s virgin tour to Chiang Mai and he is more excited about the night life than the cricket. Rueben plays under SSCC’s junior development program and has a superb record at junior level. He is looking forward to having a feel of what an international tour is all about. A RHB and RH Swing bowler, this lad is all fired up to deliver. He’ll be under the watchful eye of Terry and the other Club seniors and is not too happy about his 9.00pm curfew.
D SATHIA - Sathia is another of SSCC’s cricketers who has come through the club’s junior development program. A RHB and RHM bowler. Has performed well for the club and at junior level in KL. He is looking forward to this gem of a tournament. A bit shy off the field but a tiger on the field. He’ll be following Rueben home by 9.00pm and should be an entertaining cricketer to watch.
P VENOTH - Venoth is on his maiden tour and is also a junior cricketer who has come through SSCC’s JDP. Has had his kit bag packed since February and is good to go. A talented cricketer who has performed well locally and is looking to make his mark at international level. A RHB and RMF. Should be a pleasure to watch and Chiang Mai should give him great exposure.
PAUL KWONG - Paul’s the club’s president and a retired navy Lt Commander. Although knocking on in age, his sea legs will get him through the tournament. Has been participating in the CM Sixes on and off for the last ten years or more and this year won’t be his last port of call to Chiang Mai. A RHB and RS bowler, don’t be foxed by this seasoned veteran.
