ROMANY
Paul Lack - Captain
- Now on his 8th consecutive Chiang Mai 6's with Jack Frost and Ashwell
including getting to the giddy heights of the grand final last year. He
has also played for the Surrey Vagrants and Romany in Sarasota, Florida,
Morocco and Portugal 6's.
Neil Billing - Vice Captain
- Another experienced Chiang Mai campaigner who has also played in
Sarasota 6's. Well known for his 'recommendations' and survival on two
hours sleep a night! Useful military medium bowler who likes to open
the batting. One recommendation too far I expect!
Tony Matharu
- Romany President and plays in the championship for Epsom CC. A Chiang
Mai virgin but with past experience in Portugal and Morocco 6's.
Clive Grierson
- The first time to Chiang Mai for our experienced tourist and wicket
keeper. As one of three keepers in the squad, will inevitably have to
bowl which could be interesting. Another member of the ageing youth
policy employed by Romany and no doubt his stamina at Foxy's and the
Spotlight will bolster the team's fortunes.
David Norman
- In his youth a former minor counties player, but now known for his
'minor injuries'. He previously played 6's for both Ashwell and Surrey
Vagrants in Sarasota but after managing to fall into an industrial mower
whilst preparing the wicket for his local club, is now operating with
fewer fingers! Another first time visitor to Chiang Mai.
Clive Huggins
- Now known as Nelson due to a serious arm operation in early 2007. He is
hoping to be fit enough to keep wicket or at the very least be able to
carry the bags! His claim to fame is batting at number 6 for the 2005
winners, Surrey Vagrants. He has recently returned from Sarasota 6's
where he and the skipper played for Surrey Vagrants but lost all of the
matches played.
Paul Jeffels
- He has played in the Sarasota 6s but is a Chiang mai virgin. He also
keeps wicket so we now have 4 keepers. Last year we had none with
Ashwell ! He works in the travel industry so this counts as a long
lunchbreak as far as he is concerned. If he goes missing by Wednesday
you will know that his boss has spotted that Chiang Mai isn't on the Central
Line after all.
As you will note, the team's current form will depend on the recovery
rate of our three injured wicket keepers! |
