| On behalf of the city and people of Chiang Mai, it is with great pride and pleasure that I extend a very warm welcome to the participants, sponsors, and friends of the 19th Chiang Mai International Cricket Sixes & 7th Chiang Mai Sawasdee Cricket Cup.
It is a wonderful compliment to us that for nineteen years you have made Chiang Mai the home to one of the cricket world’s most successful amateur tournaments, and that so many of the players and teams return every year to enjoy it. After the economic damage done to our country last year by the awful tsunami in the south and then with our own flooding damage here in the city, it is especially gratifying that the Sixes is able to go ahead on schedule with over 300 cricketers, their families and friends arriving to enjoy Chiang Mai as usual. This is also the 7th year of the Chiang Mai Sixes Sawsdee Cricket Cup for school teams, and we are grateful to Sixes participants for your continued and generous support for the effort to develop of cricket as a sport for local Thai schoolchildren. I hope you will all enjoy your stay with us here in Chiang Mai. Have a wonderful and successful week, stay healthy, and come back again soon !
