YARRAMBAT 2006

Yarrambat team photo from 2005Yarrambat, back for the second year at Chiang Mai, have decided to scrap the family atmosphere and the father son combinations of last year noting that the elder of the combinations didn't pull their weight and severely hampered the social interactions of their younger charges. 2 Chiang Mai virgins join the tour this year, Andrew Comans and Russell Lamb. Both are looking to impress the High Council of Yarrambat whom are seeking significant improvement over last year's efforts. Looking to be a middle range team this year with a greater focus on the social side of things (if that is at all possible).

DANIEL "FABIO" SHAW – Captain - 17 years old and his 5th tour to Chiang Mai. Impressed all last year with his big hitting and many quick fire 30's. Looking to continue his good form but as age catches up and alcohol and women come to the forefront of the young man's mind, will he still have that same bounce and exuberance each morning – I doubt it! Particularly with his mother safely in Melbourne and his Dad doing the supervising. Still one to watch this tour.

GAVIN "SHAWRY" SHAW- 6th tour to Chiang Mai and looking to improve on his performances of last year which were under par by his very high standards. Also seeking to gain the Captain's respect after sitting out of the last game last year deciding to go with the rotation policy instead of playing our best team - costing us a place in the finals. Has suffered some injury scares to his shoulder but has decided to come back and give it another crack. A handy batter and a good bowler bowling little outswingers.

TROY "HARVS" HARVEY- 9th tour to Chiang Mai and a new inclusion to Yarrambat. Harvs has been included in the team after begging to the High Council for a spot (having been forcibly ejected from both the Darwin and Warathai teams over the past 2 years). Is known to have some homosexual tendencies so cover your behinds if you bend over – the old saying about "needing to have eyes in the back of your head" originated from an unfortunate travelers first encounter with Harvs. A decent cricketer, handy with the bat and also the keeping gloves (which is the only reason he gets a berth with us) and will be looking to impress the selectors.

DALE "PLUGGA" MEREDITH- 2nd tour to Chiang Mai. Impressed the tour selectors (and everyone else in Chiang Mai) with his performance of "Footloose" at last year's tournament. Has lost none of his shyness and has been busily working on his new act during the off season. Plugga appears to be, single handedly, driving the worldwide crusade to bring the headband back into fashion. Looking to build on a solid performance at last years tournament with his batting but will be battling for the keeping spot with Harvs. A great personality and looking for an even better time this year.

ANDREW "CRANKY" COMANS- Chiang Mai virgin. Attended the Shanghai sixes in 2005 and had his eyes opened to the life of a serious 6's player. Handy with the bat swinging from his sphincter and also a decent medium pace bowler. Pity about the catching – not known ever to have held one! The selectors have taken a gamble including Cranky in the team (given his lack of social etiquette and his liking of sharing a bed with other men on tour). Will be looking for a good all round performance to maximize his chances of staying on the future playing list of Yarrambat at Chiang Mai.

PAUL "CHILLA" CHWYLA- 2nd tour to Chiang Mai. Managed to keep young Jenny Morgan very busy last year having a collection of ducks by the end of the tour and making an enormous financial contribution to Children's cricket in Chiang Mai. Thank you Chilla. Almost did not return this year such was the magnitude of the shame of his batting performance – but a quick reminder of the shower in Foxy lady was enough to tempt him back.

RUSSELL "BOOKEND" LAMB- Another of the team's virgins to Chiang Mai - a late inclusion to the team after lengthy and heated debate by the selection panel. Was seen to be fit for the trip and its exhausting pace and competition – no real cricket skills and handy should a boat race eventuate. A decent batsmen (just ask him) and like a gazelle in the field loping quickly for the ball. Will he cope through the rigours of this tense tournament? Or crack under the pressure and high standards set by last years' team? We will know soon enough!

MICHAEL "CHIEF CLANCY WIGGUM" BURNS- 9th tour to Chiang Mai and 2nd year as Team Manager with Yarrambat. Has taken an oath of allegiance to wear the Yarrambat team attire this year and not other teams gear which was done last year – especially to Yarrambat Team functions – (Wiggum's you are reminded that there is no "I" in team). The board has decided to give him one last chance to redeem himself. A rumour is going around that he might take the field this year pulling out his creams for a go in the team. Also has been designated fines master and will be watching the teams actions like a hawk.

DAVID "CHILLR" CHWYLA- 2nd tour to Chiang Mai- How the mighty have fallen with the onset of years! Once known as the wicket keeper for the Polish National cricket team, this once fine cricketer found himself on the end of some stinging commentary last year after a series of fielding mishaps. No longer the gazelle that he once was, has retired to the non playing position of official Statistician for the Yarrambat team – remember Dave, beers before 6 pm are not to be counted.
