Dave " 2 Ball" Metcalf
Coming back to Chiang Mai for the 2nd year around. An ex-international cricketer who made his name playing for Thailand in 2000. His nickname does not reflect any part of his anatomy though it does reflect his length of inning in each innings whilst playing under the Thai Flag. Still comes off the long run and still the ball comes down slower than his follow through.
Toby "Tobes" Metcalf
The proud father of the beformentioned international cricketer. Still a very keen and handy cricketer. Once, in the early years, got 7-14 bowling leggies with a young Shane Warne watching from the stands!! Has racked up over 15 centuries in local Perth Cricket………….bowling in the 1922-23 season!
James "BTB" Mathews
Bluntly, this man is the worst cricketer in Australia so which leads the way for him to get fueled up on beer and Jack and cokes before the first over. A dedicated man to whatever he is trying to do even if it is not much at all. Will be a sight to see as his philosophy is BTB…..Be The Ball!!
Rod "Roo Dog" Stenberg
The Southerners are definitely bringing talent to the 6s this year……he is the 2nd worst cricketer in Australia! Has been to Thailand more times than his mother knows. He can bowl but that is usually before he and BTB get stuck into the early morning Jack and Cokes! A very nasty but likeable man!
Peter "Goody" Goodchap
He cam here once and now you can't keep him away. The slogger from the Gold Coast returns to Chiang Mai to fly the "local" flag for the Southerners. Lots of good things to say about Peter but won't be said here…..swings the bat like a barn door, gets the ball to the other end and can field like a dog chasing a ball all day. At night, not much to say as his family maybe reading this!!!
Saurabh "Shogun" Dhanuka
The young gun from the Southerners. A true International Cricketer presently playing for Thailand but like most of the good cricketers that have come through the Southerners, the cricketing skills are slowly disappearing!! If he could bowl as fast as he drives, he would be lethal but let's just leave that to the speed guns on the toll way!!
Swapnil"Bolly" Kaushik
Bolly makes his debut for the Southerners after a stint back in Melbourne where he was trying to study! A Thai/Indian, but with a few years Down
Under, all of those polite qualities have now gone and he is just like the
rest of the yobbos! Can hit a ball hard and long (whilst playing only in the
3's) and is Uncle Vaughany's understudy behind the stumps.
