SILVER STATE CRICKET CLUB

Silver State - 2005RUEBEN M.
Rueben is on his third tour to Chiang Mai and is a permanent fixture at Rock Hard. You may even see him there cooking the chicken wings after he has had a few cold ones while trying to pick up a stray or two. He's the Club's regular keeper and has gingerly crept up the batting order and now fancies himself as a bit of a "Gilchrist". Won't be surprised to see him opening the batting here in Chiang Mai.

SITHA
Sitha is probably known to every team there in Chiang Mai. When you meet him just say "run Sitha run" and ask him the story behind it. He is a party animal to the fullest extent. It may be a safe idea to lock up your wives and girlfriends after he has had a few drinks because he gets so legless he often goes home with the wrong woman (which has nothing to do with the "run Sitha run"). On the field he can spin the ball like a top and is a craftsman with the bat.

ARUN
"Doc" is in fine shape for this year's Sixes after trimming off 45 kilograms to weigh in at 175 kilograms. Rumour has it he is now a part owner of "Star Six". Was busy before the Sixes attending to extensive renovations there and will probably be trying to solicit some customers from the ground. Usually opens the batting for the club and is good for a quick 50. A handy spare bowler and has a safe pair of hands on the boundary.

STEVE
Steve is on his second tour to Chiang Mai and always looks forward to these international tours (so he can get back into Malaysia). Rumour has it he is going into a joint venture with "Doc" to set up the "Munusamy Watch Factory" on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. Usually opens the bowling for the club and took 180 wickets last season. He's handy with the willow and can smack the leather off the ball when he gets onto it.

DEVINDRAN
"Dev" is a bit of a veteran to the Sixes and can probably direct you to some of Chiang Mai's hottest nightlife. He loves a beer and a can spin a good yarn. He's knocking on in years but he can still get it up. A sharp bowler and his batting is "sheer driving pleasure". He's probably the "Jonty Rhodes" of the side when it comes to fielding and has the safest pair of hands in the team. He can knock a crow off a fence at 30 yards.

BALA
"Sausage" as he is affectionately known, enjoys making his annual pilgrimage to Chiang Mai. Usually travels with half a dozen boxes of Durex and had such a hangover before a game last year he actually wore one on his head when he went out to bat and thought it was his helmet. Has put on a few pounds this year and hasn't played too many games at club level. Will be looking forward to holding a bat again.

SUPPIAH
"Suppie" (pronounced "Soopy") will be touring with his wife "Bahma" this year. He runs the STC cricket ground in KL which is the best ground in Malaysia. Get to know him if your club is thinking of touring to KL. A delightful chap who enjoys a beer whilst talking cricket. Plays the odd game still but will officiate as fines master this tour. Great to have him on tour.

SIMON P
A straggler from Pataya we picked up at last year's Sixes who was seen walking around the ground carrying his kit bag and a beer. Not a bad bloke for a Pom. If he mentions anything about the Ashes, he is probably referring to "Cookies Ashes". He's handy with the bat and can rip a ball or two down the track.
