The Marchwiel Outlaws have survived two years at the Chiang Mai Sixes are are back for their third attempt after finishing runners up in the Cup last year. The usual suspects are back including Tour Manager, Mr Dingy and skipper Dingo. Others who are back include Lord Robert Hall . There are a few new faces this year including Bill "Goodie Goodie Yum Yum" Oddie's grandson big Phil "The Body" Oddie, Trent "Spornbag" Verhagen (the slowest man in the world), Jordan "Foetus" Buckley and Matty "Willow" Williamson. All efforts will be made by Mr Dingy to keep the boys focused although silverware might come a little harder this year without the services of our Sri Lankan pro, Hashan Tillakeratne.
Team
Mr Dingy (Tour Manager)
Dingy the ol' finger pointer is back again for another session at the sixes. Looking remarkably sharper these days, he will be hoping his seasoned campaign experience will ensure the boys are fresh and ready for each game. No chance is what he really thinks, but he will give it his best shot! Any of those who do not toe the line will be subject the authority of his sheriffing responsibilities even though he is a bit rusty these days..Look out lads that could be one for the bonfire!!!
Deano Morrison
Dingo, Jack, Morro whatever he is known as, is back again to lead the lads around the field and the local traps. This year he will be performances on and off the field with the daily yellow, green and red shirt competition being a new edition to the Marchwiel tour this year. There are a few contenders for the desired jerseys with "The Body Oddie" odds on for the Yellow jersey (most shags). Dutchy will surely be in line for the Green jersey (most pathetic shag) and Jordo is a dead certainty for the Red jersey (quickest shag). In any case, Dingo will be under loads of pressure to get the balance right and make sure the boys finish there or thereabouts when finals time approaches.
Trent Verhagen
Dutchy Verhagen is playing in his first Chiang Mai sixes and is somewhat interestingly bred being an Australian of Dutch heritage. Dutchy does not display any skill that would suggest he could play the game, however, he has taken a test wicket in the form of former South African player Dale Benkenstein. By the way, Mario said Dale says 'hi Dutchy'. At 6 3" you would think this big splinter would be able to generate some pace, but when you run like a snail in glue you can then appreciate how Dutchy has been known to put batsman asleep at the crease. This is a skill that could be our secret weapon this campaign.
Jordon Buckley
Jordo is another to be playing in his first Chiang Mai sixes. Not much is know about this lad other than he has played some decent second XI cricket back home. Plays in the V a lot and will be looking to Foxy Lady for inspiration this campaign. A newcomer to most of the local haunts so there will be plenty to be learnt over the week in Chiang Mai.
Matty Williamson
Again another newcomer to the Marchwiel Outlaws at the Chiang Mai sixes. Willow has played all around the world but has not added to his international tally since he departed England two summers ago. Will be a regular around the usual nightspots and is sure to add to a few more international scalps to his sporting cv. One to watch and will fare quite well in the company of some of the more seasoned Chiang Mai veterans.
Lord Hall
This old battlehorse is back again. One of the most reliable campaigners going around at the tournament. Lord Hall, as he is aristocratically known back in the United Kingdom, will keep up to the stumps all day long and will still be up for plenty of horizontal action if required. At the time of writing this we are still unsure if his old sparring partner and cameraman Zac "the Hammer " Pacey will make it over this year. In any case, this seasoned pro will again perform to the highest of standards.
Phil Oddie
The final debutant at the Chiang Mai sixes is big Phil "the Body" Oddie. A local boy from Marchwiel and current second team vice captain, this strapping young lad has been bred (unlike Dutchy) from the finest England has to offer. He is a total showman and with a grandfather like the legendary comic Bill Oddie then it is no wonder why his talents have propelled him into stardom. He is back this season at Marchwiel after having lived full time in London for the past two years working on the hit comedy television series "The Office". Recently returned to the Cheshire area and is now starring in Hollyoaks as big brother Richard. Good to have him back and great to see him out in Chiang Mai given his heavy television schedule. I can't wait to see you in the Daily Sport when we return. I have been assured that he will be on his best behaviour. Good luck.
Justin "Son of Kersey" Kersey
Last year Justin was a late replacement for some seriously ullaged players and took his opportunity well. Youth is always a byeword on the lips of Outlaw watchers, and here we have one. A future Ned Kelly for sure. His Dad, Terry, is another trigger puller along with Dingy, so watch out you unbelievers. Justin is a Brisbane boy with a big hitting and ice cool bowling reputation. Look out for big things by
this young fella at this year's tournament.
Thanks to the boys for making the effort this year and remember
-
BE LUCKY....
