ASHWELL CRUSADERS


Ashwell Crusaders - 2005Paul Thwaites  - Ashwell Crusaders Captain [Wing Commander]

  1. Chief Executive of Ashwell Property Group PLC and founder of the Ashwell Crusaders.
  2. Steady medium pace bowler, robust batsman and extremely dependable fielder.
  3. Sponsor of Bunbury's – great friends with David English.

Paul Lack

  1. Another regular of the Crusaders.
  2. As the skipper says "Paul does very well with bat and ball, considering he's a lot older than me".
  3. Is probably the most traveled cricketer here today.

Neil Billing

  1. Middle order batsman (could be tricky in Sixes having all middle order batsmen) and military medium bowler who has toured to the West Indies, Spain, Gibraltar and South Africa. 
  2. Attended the same school as Alec Stewart but several decades earlier. 
  3. Plays cricket for Tenterden.  He is a surveyor.

 Darren Cousins

  1. An excellent bowler, Darren played a key role in Northamptonshire gaining promotion to Division.  Won in the four-day championship back in 2000.
  2. Played for the skipper in 1986 in Ashwell's first charity match at the tender age of 16.

Ashley Cowan

  1. A fast bowler, playing for Essex since 1995
  2. After his debut with Ashwell Crusaders against The Bunbury's in Cambridge last year, this is his first international trip with the team.
  3. 2006 is his Benefit Year

Jonathan Powell

  1. Former Essex and England ‘A' Cricketer.
  2. Part of Ashwell Crusaders' side in last year's Chiang Mai Sixes.
  3. Flying in from Australia to support the skipper.

Tom Harvey

  1. Joins the Crusaders from Cambridgeshire Cricket Club
  2. His appearance in Chiang Mai is both his debut with the team and at the tournament

Simon Gardner

  1. An established member of the Crusaders Team. 
  2. Has toured with the skipper all over the world.
  3. A regular player at both Chiang Mai and Sarasota Sixes competitions.
