On behalf of the membership of the Chiengmai Gymkhana Club,
it my great pleasure to welcome once again all the participants, officials and friends of the Chiang Mai Sixes. With 106 years
of sporting history behind the Gymkhana Club, it is perhaps only fitting that we have played host for 17 years to Chiang Mai's
longest running, and perhaps only, annual international sporting event. We are proud to be the home of the Sixes and hope the
association will continue for the years to come.
May I also add my congratulations and thanks to you all for the contributions you have been making to the development of cricket
among local Thai schoolchildren. That is a wonderful initiative, and the program just seems to go from strength to strength. I
hope we soon see the day when it is the Thai, rather than expat, members of this club who will want to reserve our cricket square
for their weekend matches! The fair-play ‘spirit of cricket’ is something all Thais can recognise and respond to I
think.
The Chiang Mai Sixes has a reputation for being as much a social event as a sporting contest. I hope therefore that you will enjoy
both sides of your holiday this week. Have fun, be a winner, and please feel at home as honoured guests of Chiengmai Gymkhana Club.
Mr. Precha Kovitaya
Chairman,
