COMMONWEALTH CC

The Commonwealth Cricket Club has set the trend of weekend cricket in Dhaka and rocked the social scene a quarter of a century back. The genesis of CCC dates back to the early 70's with the then Australian High Commissioner taking the initiative to field a side with the members of the diplomatic community forming the nucleus of the team..

Apart from being a regular participant of the Bangkok Sixes, the club has under taken a number of overseas tours. Since the mid eighties the club has toured Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Thailand and we take pride in being the only Bangladeshi side with an international flavor. In the year 2000 CCC became the Champion of the Cup group in the Bangkok sixes, the only side from Bangladesh having the honor to do so. CCC also reached the Cup Finals of the Penang Sixes in 2002 and Bangkok Sixes in 2001 & 2003.

Commonwealth Cricket Club ensured its presence felt in the social scene by organizing Cricket Balls on number of occasions. Fariduddin Khan Rumi has been effectively running the affairs of the club now and we are in high spirits and on cloud nine to be invited to amuse ourselves in the Chiang Mai sixes this year.

Players' profile

SYED ASHRAFUL HUQ :
Nothing new to write about him, you all know 'ASH'. He is our Leader of the Delegation.

MAINUL HAQ (Team Manager)

TANJEEB AHSAN SAAD : (Team Coordinator)
Former national cricketer, plays for CCC only when there is no 12thman in the side. He was a manager, selector of Bangladesh national team and a director and executive secretary of Bangladesh Cricket Board. Did basic coaching and pitch preparation courses and little bit of cricket coaching too. Now demoted to the role of baggage master of CCC so that he can really become a Jack-of-all-trades.

FARIDUDDIN KHAN RUMI : (Captain)
Most valuable member of the side (because he is responsible for arranging the tours). Bowls slow right arm "well flighted" off spinners, just ask any batsman who's faced him, what it's like to have Rumi's ball drop on you. Now more into Golf for obvious reasons.

KAMRUL HUDA :
Right hand batsman. A regular for CCC in Dhaka weekend matches but this will be his first tour abroad with us. A very watchful bat, needs a pair of spectacles while batting because often he runs himself out.

IMTIAZ MD. POLASH :
An insurance agent interested in the noble game as he can use his cricket connection (in overseas too!) in his business. By the way a prolific scorer for CCC and bowls wrong footed off spin straighters.

MASUDUR RAHMAN MUKUL :
His all round performance is the basis for our recent overseas success. A lovely hitter of the ball, his favorite area being wide mid-on (don't need to place a fielder there, he always hits over the rope). A tight off spin bowler but one can raise eye brows.

EMDADUL HOQUE IMDU :
Totally into cricket. Runs a cricket coaching clinic in his hometown Comilla. His labors have been recognized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, he is now a talent hunter for the under 17 boys. Bats with both the hands and bowls (chucks!) with left hand only. Holder of a unique World record - he left (well left indeed!) two consecutive deliveries while batting in a six a side match.

ISHTIAQUE SADEQUE :
Plays for CCC only on overseas tours. A genuine all rounder, Bats, bowls and keeps wicket. A garments exporter and mobile phone importer and is called "Ishti" by his friends.
