Paul Wintle
Describes himself as a hard-hitting batsman and occasional wicketkeeper.
In 3 Years with the Police Team, Paul has not hit the ball off the square.
He will be the reserve keeper in Thailand and may even have a bowl the
likes of which the Chiang Mai Sixes would have never seen before [we'll
have the search party standing by - ed.].
Mark Chappell
Being promoted to the rank of captain on this tour, recently played
in six-a-side in Florida where he tried to bowl a bouncer to Mike GATTING
[BA Dragons' rabbit - ed.]. Needless
to say that Gatt had the last laugh and hooked the ball to New York. Mark
will be in charge of mustering his troops to do battle and will definitely
lead from the front.
Robin Longmore
Making his overseas debut, Robin is from the Fraud Squad [uh-oh! -
ed.] and therefore the ideal man to be the Tour Fines Master. Robin is
also a hard hitting batsman and agile wicket keeper, should do well in
this form of cricket.
Simon Embley
Simon has only been a club member for 6 months and this is now his second
overseas tour. Simon is a non-player [doesn't stop most of our cricketers
- ed.] but on the recent Tour to Florida managed to get hit on the
ankle with the ball resulting in a chipped bone whilst the team were doing
warm up exercises. Simon will be the Tour Manager and responsible for
getting the Team to the Ground on time.
Dave Cole-Parsons
This will be Dave's first game outside Worcestershire. [No problem -
life in Chiang Mai very similar to Clifton-upon-Teme - ed.] He is
a fine off spin bowler and right-handed batsman. He is looking forward
to visiting Thailand but has promised to take his partner a huge present
home for allowing him to make the tour.
Simon Young
Last toured for the Police in 1994, since that tour Simon has got a little
wiser, wider and slower [will be in good company - ed.], will not
let the side down being a Professional in everything that he does.
Dave Cole
A left handed bat who bowls a bit, making his second overseas tour for
the club, looking forward to making new friends in Chiang Mai [I bet -
ed.] and should score lots of runs.
Ian Booth
Making his first tour for the club having played for Police for the
last 5 years. Hard hitting left-handed Batsman [not sure what Umpire Bell
will make of crossing over for all these left handers -ed.] and as a very
unique bowling action in attempting to bowl leg spin. Big things expected
from Ian on this tour.
