Team at 2002 Sixes
PLAYER No.80 : TROY HARVEY (Harves)
Tour No.6 : Harves is one of the original tourists and
has not missed a tour. Is a very experienced Sixes player although still
to reach his full potential on the field. Perhaps his escapades off the
field could be the problem.
PLAYER No.73 : STEVE CHRISTIE (Crunch)
Tour No. 6 : Crunch is another who has not missed a
Warathai tour. Experienced is Sixes cricket, particularly the after match
celebrations & post mortems. Has survived six Chiang Mai tours and
is hoping to survive another.
PLAYER No.66 : IAN LIDDELL (Reds)
Tour No. 6 : Reds is also an original tourist who enjoys
his Sixes cricket immensely. Will be found at various times throughout
the week relieving Rick with his dulcet tones on the microphone &
keeping us well informed of the happenings not only on the field but also
the happening off it.
PLAYER No.42 : DARRELL MEPHAM (Monster)
Tour No.4 : Monster found the Chiang Mai experience
to his liking last tour, but is still having minor trouble with his hemorrhoids
& will be consulting Doctor 72, whose practice is located at the Chiang
Mai RSL. Last year the Doctor managed to relieve the pain with a new technique
perfected by years of dedicated practice. I hope it all works out for
the best.
PLAYER No.56 : STAN SPINK (Spinky)
Tour No.3 : Last year' TOTT winner while playing
with the Bangkok Postels team, and is looking to defend his well earned
title this year. Although he does promise not to dispute any umpires decisions
this year. Will be focusing all his energies this year on the golf course
and around the many bars late at night.
PLAYER No.75 : MICK BURNS (Burnsy)
Tour No.2 : Backing up for a second tour after a most
enjoyable first experience last year in Chiang Mai. Will not be umpiring
this year as his E-mail was over flowing with death threats because of
last year' performance. Will support the team from a well-positioned
chair close to the beer and food.
PLAYER No.70 : SLAVKO ERAK (The Slav)
Tour No.3 : Slav is our Serbian secret weapon who may
or may not sparkle on the cricket field, but is assured to be a major
player off it. Will be having a long session at some stage of the tour
with his old buddy Sam Cougar. I hope he has better luck this time than
the previous time he spent with him.
PLAYER No.74 : GRANT JONES (Grunter)
Tour No.3 : Grunter missed last year' tour because
of a bad bout of Dragon' Breath. Has hopefully fully recovered
& will make up for lost time on this upcoming tour. Has been practicing
hard during our domestic season & has promised to make his presence
felt in Chiang Mai, the Warathai' hope it is on rather than off
the field. The Spotlight had to be steam cleaned after an unfortunate
mishap by Grunter on a previous tour, but things have been worked out
with Mamma San & he will be admitted this year as long as he takes
a bucket along.
PLAYER No.53 : BILL PAPPAS (PAP)
Tour No.2 : Pap is returning to Chiang Mai after a year'
sabbatical in which he spent most of his time meditating at his spiritual
home & praying for divine help for his struggling Liverpool football
team. Is on a pilgrimage to find outstanding footballers to bolster his
team' fortunes. Will declare himself unavailable for cricket if
the temperature is over 30 degrees. So he won’t be playing must
cricket.
PLAYER No.51 : WARREN PUGH (Wokka)
Tour No.3 : Wokka has toured Chiang Mai on two previous
occasions. On his first tour he was a late inclusion in the Lord'
Taveners team which went on to win the trophy final and then toured
last year with the Stockton Seagulls who were narrowly defeated in the
cup semifinals. This year he is a new recruit for the Warathai'
& is looking forward to being a part of a team he has always admired
from afar. Will add a much needed spark to the team although he may fall
in with the wrong crowd namely Harves & Burnsey, which will extinguish
that spark very quickly. Let' hope we can get a few games out of
him before this happens.
