Team at 2002 Sixes
William Whiteside-McFadden
Making his 4th visit to the Sixes, "Tinker" is still
basking in the glory of leading the Kiteboys to glory in last year's Bowl,
and, even more improbably, actually hitting a four in the final. The current
crisis being faced by the world's leading insurance companies is probably
the result of his claim following the loss of his luggage last year. William
is currently taking a part-time, long-distance learning degree at Manchester
University (who are unaware that it is part-time or long-distance).
Sam Whiteside-McFadden
Appointed team treasurer after working out that any sum of money in
Baht is equivalent to a pound, "Chucky" lived up to his
temperamental reputation last year on his Chiang Mai debut when throwing
a strop before he had even bowled a ball when objecting to the umpire
preventing him taking a 120 yard run-up. If he had run in that far and
then been no-balled god knows what would have happened. Showed hitherto
unrevealed batting ability when smashing a six in the Bowl final off a
rather infirm Bunny. He is eagerly anticipating renewing acquaintance
with the Spotlight Bar.
Jonno Seifman
Jonno's heroism in changing his flight plans last year in order to play
in the Final, therein risking his immediate employment prospects, have
made him a Kiteboy legend, and we are delighted to welcome him back for
a second year. The Kiteboys have turned down a huge transfer bid from
Lamma for his services so he had better do the business again!
Daniel Shaw
Junior Kiteboy whose accurate bowling was a major factor in last year's
success. Our only Aussie Kiteboy, but we will not be teasing him about
how England massacred his national team in both the Ashes and the one-dayers
this winter (not to mention the football or as is quaintly known down
under, 'soccer'). We are hoping he doesn't share a pharmacist with Shane
Warne's mother as the Kiteboys have an extremely strict drugs policy.
Paul Carroll
While the participation of this cricketing colossus is not yet totally
confirmed, Pail is hoping to make his Chiang Mai comeback after a 12 year
gap a lot of water (and other fluids) have passed under the bridge since
then. Legendary cricketing cavalier and bon viveur with an idiosyncratic
cricketing style involving charging the world's fastest bowlers and the
unique 'neck-spin' style of bowling, named after the head movement which
follows the ball flying over his head with much greater altitude and velocity
than that with which it was delivered. Paul will be in charge of team
laundry and marriage guidance counselling.
Matt Luton
The Kiteboy's manager or as he was more accurately known, "Damager",
is again ready to take the field in an emergency, and could prove a secret
weapon. Despite not playing last year, still came every close to a double
figure score. He will be trying to organise a more active Rest Day for
the Kiteboys, as last year all they could manage was elephant trekking,
rafting, go-karting and bunjee jumping (and that was before lunch).
In Absentia
Nick Knight
The spearhead of the Kiteboys' attack may well be missing this year
as he is doing something in a tropical rain forest in Brazil. How we will
find another bowler able to restrict the opposition to only 48 off an
over is hard to fathom.
James Bryant
We would like to wish James every success in his new contract with Somerset
for 2003, and hope he will give Andrew Caddick's ears a tug on our behalf.
