TAVERNERS, SHENANIGAN'S

CLOSE IN ON TITLES

Day 2

by Peter Cummins, Chiang Mai

In a day of sparkling cricket, the World Super Six champions 2002, the Lords Taverners, with two great wins in yesterday's games, are on track for this year's title again, with superb batting by Carrington Sheperd (the Shed) who hit a 26 and a 30 not out in his team's two great innings.

Meantime, Pattaya-ites - Kim Fletcher's bunch the Shenanigan's Los Malakas - started to consolidate their Spoon title with their second win. As the Sixteenth Chiang Mai International Cricket Sixes entered the second full day at the Chiengmai Gymkhana Club yesterday,

The last two matches of the day, although almost finishing in darkness, still produced great cricket, "Thet must be wearing night vision glasses", commented one onlooker The 'representative' of the Warbler Bunnies Club insisted that their bevvy of beauties are REALLY interested in cricket and came of their own volition to yesterday's events, to see and applaud the action- especially observing the finer points of the game.

In the Spoon Division, it was a battle royale of the Pattayans, as Kim Fletcher's Shenanigan's Los Malakas met head-to-head with the Pattaya Pectels 69 - and gave these lads a sound thrashing.

The Round Robin matches end after today's play, after which the Cup, Bowl and Plate teams will enter the Round One and Round Two Groupings, to build up to the Cup, Plate, Bowl and Spoon finals on Saturday.

In the meantime, the Fourth Chiang Nai Sawasdee Cricket Cup is gaining momentum in the adjacent field and the the ladies challenge teams, the World Woman 'Dixie Belles' and the
Chiang Mai Chassies are practicing hard for their clash at week's end.
