Maurice Bromley: Old "Barge pole" The lefty with a wily
slant to his bowling, will measure out his opponents. Nothing second hand
there although he is always on the lookout for a bargain. He will not give
his wicket away cheaply, not even to the highest bidder. Done, done, all done.
Richard Abbott: Old "May pole", it's in the bag, why is
he always digging in the dirt, now that's food for thought. The "Rural
Aussie", "Kingswood" and all, but where is the "Blue Heeler".
Like the famous dog he has plenty of bit, however can he repeat last year's
stunning performances on and off the field.
Geoff Thompson: Old "Totempole", resurrecting his cricketing
career after a sabbatical break. Smooth with the pen, deft with the blade,
slight of hand with the ball and wise with the tongue. He can't fail to impress
with all round ability like that.
Roger Herbert: Old "Flagpole", adding intellectual depth
to the team, fresh from the shores of Corio Bay in Aus. He will experience
his first "Sixes". Can he handle the pace off the field as well
as on it? Left handed batting will add variation to a team rich with talent.
Ray Twine: Old "Bean pole", bringing culture and sophistication
to this collection of misfit cricketers. Well, that's his story, he has lots
to prove!!!. Fresh from foreign shores is anxious to impress with wily craft
weadling away at the stumps and batting with deft touch. "Beanpole"
is hoping that action speaks louder than words.
Eric Little: Old "Spinnaker pole", with a mind as young
as his, no wonder he enjoys playing cricket with the kids. But can his body
keep up with the mind? Failed to finish last year's event in good shape. Obviously
the mind is willing but the body is weak. Has never passed by a damsel in
distress yet.
Peter Dawson: Old "Tent pole", as Team manager and administrator
of this motley collection of poor unfortunate bodies who claim to be fit and
healthy cricketers he has the most awesome task ever imaginable keeping this
"pole headed" lot together. . Still old "Tent Pole" will
handle it with consummate ease as he does with everything else. He even took
a poll and found that all his men where "pole" men. He's hoping
that they will poleax the opposition.
