Chris Coley: Tour leader and the backbone of the 'Gipsies' for 30 years.
An affiliation with the Cheltenham National Hunt Festival hasn't led him into
great horse management (his last horse is on sale in all good French supermarkets!)
but his horse knowledge may be useful on Grand National day {dream on - ed.}He
bowls high flighted leg spin and his lower order batting (it used to be higher)
could lead him to be the dark horse of the side.
Michael Terrington: Mike is the seasoned tourist of the Gipsies,
always first to the bar and always last to leave. Accountancy skills could
come in useful, especially for some of the younger players and also when bartering
in the late evening Night Bazaars. His unique brand of ultra flat off spin
has been likened to Saqlain so batters must beware. Local bar owner's profits
are sure to rocket while "terrors" is in town.
Paul Lazenbury: Previous player of the tournament (2000)and the Gipsies
are still waiting for a dinner invitation to use the cutlery that he won.
'Lazers' is the most eligible bachelor in Gloucestershire (so he says!) so
the locals had better be on their guard as he may put his car selling charms
to good use. Former pro cricketer with Gloss and Kent and still smarting from
bowling the most expensive over of the tournament on his last visit to Chiang
Mai.
Richard Howell: Junior member of the side and on his first Gipsies
tour. 'Howler' has recently left the sheltered life of Cheltenham Boys College,
so senior members will have to keep an eye on him if he is not to be accosted
by a 'lady-boy' and is to return to England safely. He is a talented all rounder
and will add to the side on and off the field.
Mark Briars: His failure to accept that David Graveney is an important
personality in both county and international cricket brought a premature end
to his first-class career. He is the Cricket Coach at Cheltenham College and
also one of the country's leading racquets coaches, though where he learnt
to play the game is somewhat questionable as he quite obviously did not attend
public school himself!
Keith Mustow: 'Musty' on his first trip to the Sixes has expressed
considerable interest in the local delicacies. A talented all round sportsman
- he is a Minor Counties cricketer for Oxfordshire and a single figure golfer.
This true English gentleman will prove an inviting target for the local Thai
girls; he'd do well to take advice from fellow tourists before indulging in
the local delights.
David Terrington: The Alexei Sayle lookalike (according to the Viking)
is a professional student and his attempts to stay away from the world of
work are costing his father dear! Son of Mike, Junior ' Terrors' is on his
second visit to the Sixes and is likely to form a deadly partnership with
'Lazers' in the local nightclubs. Like his father, a true Gipsy who plays
hard on and off the field.
